This past Saturday, May 1st, 2010, I participated in the Furry Scurry in Denver. Once a year people and their pets gather in Washington Park to raise funds for the Dumb Friends League, a homeless pet shelter. I walked with a small ferret, Snotface, and my dog, Twiggy. Oh, and my Mom, Grandma, Grandpa and another friend were there too.
Snotface was the biggest hit of the Furry Scurry since he was probably the only pet that wasn't a dog. Everyone wanted to pet him and smell him and he loved it! I think Twiggy might have been a little bit jealous.
The goal of the Furry Scurry was to raise $1,000,000! They are SO close! Right now they have raised $961,354.58! You can still make a difference by donating here.
I donated a $1 and got a chance to spin a prize wheel, which broke when I spun it, but the guy let me pick a toy. I chose a pink tug-a-war bone for Twiggy. But, many dogs kept thinking it must be for them while I walked the race. Like this Golden Retriever who really didn't understand why she couldn't have it!
There were over 10,000 mammals that participated in the Furry Scurry. Next year I look forward to even more!! I positively recommend the Furry Scurry to all loving, pet owners. See you next year!!
